Born in Ipswich in 1957, Lee studied at Bath Academy of Art. Lee has travelled extensively in the Far East where she studied calligraphy and Taoist brush painting. Such influences are apparent in her elegant and specific mark making which gives her work a distinctive and original style. Her awareness in the use of colour means that she takes a great deal of care mixing her own inks by hand which may take days of preparation.

The monoprinting technique, although very time consuming, produces the richness and luminosity of colour that makes her prints so special. The ink is painted onto each plate individually.
